Peach Salsa is a fun summer twist on the traditional version, and is the perfect way to use up any fresh peaches you have on hand. It makes tacos, burrito bowls, and even burgers taste better!

    Why You’ll Love It

It tastes ridiculously good. When you use ripe peaches, they add sweetness and a more complex flavor to traditional salsa ingredients, like tomatoes, lime juice, and cilantro.

It’s easy. Just chop a few ingredients and stir them together! It literally takes 10 minutes of your time to assemble. Alternatively, you can use a food processor for an even more finely-chopped salsa.

You’re in charge of the flavor. If you prefer a more spicy salsa, you can leave in some of the jalapeno seeds, or if you want a super-mild salsa, you can omit the jalapeno entirely. You can also make it more tangy by adding extra lime juice, or make any other adjustments you like, until the flavor is just right.

It’s an impressive dish to bring to a party. The next time you’re in charge of bringing an appetizer, you’ll have this recipe in your back pocket. It can be made ahead of time, up to 3 days in advance, and all you need is some tortilla chips for serving!

It adds nutrients to your meal. Tomatoes and peaches are both a great source of vitamin C, and you’ll enjoy extra fiber in each bite.

    Ingredients You’ll Need

    What’s in peach salsa?

    • Fresh peaches
    • Tomatoes
    • Shallot (or diced red onion)
    • Jalapeno
    • Cilantro
    • Fresh lime juice
    • Salt

This fresh peach salsa recipe will taste best when your ingredients are ripe and in-season. Tomatoes and peaches are in their peak during the summer and fall months, so keep that in mind when choosing to make this recipe.

You can also add in some diced avocado, if you want some added creaminess. See the substitution section below if you need to make any ingredient swaps.

    How to Make Peach Salsa.

    1. Chop.

Most of the effort involved in this recipe is simply chopping. Finely dice the peaches, tomatoes, shallot, jalapeno, and cilantro, then add them to a large bowl.

Tip: Be sure to wash your hands well after handling a fresh jalapeno, as the spicy juice can stick to your fingers. This will burn your eyes if you touch them later! To be on the extra-safe side, you can wear kitchen gloves when handling this spicy pepper and its seeds.

    2. Mix well.

Add the lime juice and salt, and stir well. The flavors will meld together the longer they sit together in the bowl, so I recommend making this at least 15 minutes in advance for the best flavor.

Stir well again, just before serving, and adjust any flavors to taste. If the salsa isn’t sweet enough, you can add a drizzle of honey into the mix, or for more tangy flavor, you can also add a splash of vinegar.

Prefer more of a restaurant-style salsa? You can also add the chopped veggies to a food processor, and let it do the mixing for you. In this case, the salsa will be runnier in texture, more like a store-bought salsa.

    Substitutions & Common Questions

What if I don’t have tomatoes on hand? You can use more peaches, or try adding a diced red bell pepper, for extra color and flavor.

Can I use another fruit? This salsa would also be delicious with chopped pineapple, or try using mango for a quick mango salsa.

What does peach salsa go well with? Fruit salsa pairs well with chicken and seafood, so try serving this salsa over baked salmon, chicken burgers, or baked chicken breasts. It would also be great for fish tacos, or on top of your favorite burrito bowl or taco salad.

    Peach Salsa

Peach Salsa is a delicious summer twist on the traditional version, featuring fresh peaches and tomatoes. You can chop it all together for a chunky salsa, or use a food processor for a more runny, restaurant-style texture.

    Prep Time: 20 mins

    Cook Time: 0 mins

    Total Time: 20 mins

    Servings: 8

    Ingredients

    • 2 medium peaches
    • 1 pound tomatoes
    • 1 shallot
    • 1 jalapeno , seeds & membrane removed
    • ¼ cup cilantro , chopped
    • 2 tablespoons lime juice , or more to taste
    • ½ teaspoon fine sea salt

    Instructions

    • Finely dice the peaches (no need to peel them), tomatoes, shallot, jalapeno, and cilantro. Take care not to touch your eyes after dicing the jalapeno, and wash your hands well to remove their spicy juices. (You can wear gloves when handling this spicy pepper, if you want to be on the extra safe side.) Add all of the diced ingredients to a large mixing bowl.

    • Add in the lime juice and salt, and stir well. Let the salsa rest for 10 minutes, to help the flavors meld, then stir again before serving.

    • If you prefer a runnier salsa, add the ingredients to a food processor and process briefly, until the texture is as runny as you like. Taste, and make any adjustments as needed. You can add an extra squeeze of lime juice for a more tart flavor, or a drizzle of honey or maple syrup, if the peaches aren’t adding as much sweetness as you’d like. Serve with your favorite tortilla chips, or over tacos, burritos, or a salad. Leftover salsa can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.

    Notes

Nutrition information is for roughly 1/4 cup of salsa, assuming you get 2 cups total from this recipe. This information is automatically calculated, and is just an estimate, not a guarantee.
*If you don’t have shallot on hand, you can swap it for a 1/4 cup diced red onion, instead.
